4 Ways to Use Grape Leaves

I love it when the leaves of a fruit can be enjoyed, and grape is one of those amazing fruits.

Here are four ways you can use grape leaves:

Pick them in the spring time when they are still young. The grape leaf will feel thin.
You can eat grape leaf raw, boiled, or stuffed and then steamed or baked.

Pickling Grape Leaves:

Wash the young grape leaves in a salt bath.
Then you need 4 cups of lemon juice, 2 cups of water, and 1/4 cup of salt. Mix well. Put the grape leaves inside a mason jar and cover with the lemon water juice. Place the jar in fridge. You can keep it in the fridge for up to a year.
We made dolmades with these. So delish.

Grape Leaf chips:

All you need is egg and flour mixture. Add some salt or seasoning for taste. Fry them on the skillet until crisp. You could also bake them in a low oven (275F) until crisp (12 minutes). Simply coat the the leaf with oil and season it.

Grape Leaf Smoothie:

Add a few leaves to your favorite smoothie.
Young grape leaves, ripe bananas, cinnamon, apples, and frozen strawberries.

Dried grape leaf:

You can use this in your soups or make a tea with it. You can use a needle and hang bunches in a cool place until they are dry.  I have a dehydrator and the leaves became dry in a few hours.
Remember if your not used to consuming grape leaves start out small. Don’t consume too much at once. And make sure that you know how to properly identify grape leaves.
