Elizabeth and I are so excited to be starting our restoring journey. One man’s garbage is another man’s treasure. It is easy to spend thousands of dollars on new furniture but it takes talent, hard work, and determination to see potential in something that might not be so beautiful.

Our first project are these windows.
We have a love for old windows, especially the stained glass ones. You can repurpose old windows in a number of different ways. This time we simply took off the old, probably toxic layer of paint, and repainted them. We hanged them in our living room and dining room. In the future we will use old windows to create a greenhouse and furniture pieces. What we love most about old windows is that these pieces are unique and one of a kind.
The first step is to sand all the windows. This step takes all the old paint off and helps you even out the wood. This takes the most time. We wore glasses and a facemask.
Because the windows are old some of the window glazing was completely off and as a result the glass could fall out of the wooden frame. We had to re-glaze some of the windows using window glazing.
We got our paint at Lowes and used paint by Krylon: chalky finish: interior dark vintage paint which matched our furniture perfectly.
To hang the windows you’ll need large D-ring hangers. The brand is called OOK. You’ll also need a wire.
