Fresh air, dirty children, and nature at its best is what I love about camping. I am reminded of my childhood whenever I take my children camping. They play for hours outside and only come near our campsite when it is time to eat or I call them over to do a craft. No one ever proclaims that they are bored while camping because they have let their imaginations run wild by building forts. Camping is just the kind of medicine we need for our souls. Many of us spend far too little time outdoors. We tend to take nature for granted. However, if we look closer and pay close attention we can find the hand of God in every corner.
Crafts:
1. Stick People: My campers made stick people out of sticks, moss, and floral tape.
2. Shell art: I bought shells, glues, and glitter glue at the dollar store. My campers made different designs and glued them on paper plates.
Games:
1. Ring toss: All you need are a few glow in the dark necklaces and a stick or shovel. This game is played in the dark.
Tic tac toe: My campers made a tic tac toe game using gram crackers, chocolate pieces, and marshmallows.
3: Dominos: To make dominos all you need are 28 rocks, and glue glitter or paint. I bought rocks at the dollar store ahead of time but you could use the rocks that you find at camp.
