Everyone has their own opinion.
Growing up when I got a fever my mom would cover me up in warm blankets until I would sweat. That’s what her mom did and everyone she knew when she lived in the Soviet Union. I didn’t take any medicine to reduce my fevers. When my kids came around I was told this method doesn’t work by doctors and to only cover them up in a bed sheet.
When I came home from school and asked my parents to help me with my division problems, they would look at the example problem and tell me that they have no idea how my teacher solved this problem. My parents got the same answer but they used a different method. They were not able to help me with math because the methods they used to solve many of the math problems were different.
Once I had children, everyone gave me different advice. Some told me to not allow my baby to cry, others told me to let them cry once their basic needs were met.
One cardiologist said that our daughter needed heart surgery. Another told us that if it was his daughter he wouldn’t do it.
One plumber says it is bad to add lemon peels in the garbage disposal while another thinks its good.
There are about ten different styles of homeschooling: Waldorf, unschooling, worldschooling, roadschooling, classical, Montessori, electric, unit studies, Charlotte Manon, and life schooling. Many families do a mixture of two of them.
There are four different parenting styles: authoritative, neglectful, permissive, and authoritarian.
People clean differently. One person might focus on surface cleaning while another on deep cleaning.
People cook differently.
People eat different things.
People exercise differently.
People have different personalities. There are four basic personality types: Choleric (Lion), Sanguine (Otter), Phlegmatic (Golden Retriever), and Melancholic (Beaver).
There is no one right way to do something. Different things work for different people. Our opinions are based on our personalities, experiences, what we read, hear, or learn.
Don’t take the opinion of others too seriously or personal.
Geographical Center of North America Monument
From California the center of North America sounds far away but it’s hard to believe that it would be in North Dakota. Rugby is a city that has the Geographical Center of North America Monument in the same parking lot as three commercial buildings. One of the things we have learned about these geographical centers is that they are often in very random seeming locations. This monument can be spotted by seeing the America, Mexico, and Canada flags right next to each other. This monument is hard to miss since it is 21 feet tall.

International Peace Gardens
Before North Dakota was the “Roughrider State” it was the “Peace Garden State” and there’s a reason why. North Dakota and Manitoba have a border with each other and right on the border they have a international garden. The border is marked by a stream of water going right on the border. While here we saw people planting flowers. Both the Canadians and Americans work together to make this garden beautiful. There really is a lot to see here, much of which is impressive. You can actually drive from nation to nation here so there are customs on the way out. We didn’t have our passport because we never left America but be prepared to bring yours or you will have issues.

Grahams Island State Park
Devils Lake has a massive surface area of 369 acres. It’s no surprise that a lake this size has a island that has residential homes and farms on it. Not only that but a state park known as Grahams Island State Park. The park contains 1,122 acres of land being much bigger then the lake itself. We went kayaking here and really enjoyed our time on Devils Lake. To get here there’s a bridge from the city of Devils Lake to this island. Definitely a great place to visit Devils Lake from.

Sullys Hill National Game Preserve
Did you know that there have been seven National Parks in America that lost that title? One of these is Sully Hills National Game Preserve. Theodore Roosevelt made it a National Park in 1904 but in 1931 (during the great depression) the Fish and Wildlife took control of this land making it a National Game Preserve. Here we found American bison, white-tailed deer, and prarie dogs.
