So Cal. Road Trip

posted in: Uncategorized | 19

My husband makes me laugh so hard!!! Once he acted like there was a snake near us and jumped back. Another time, we were washing our hands outside next to a building and he starts to run as if something scary is behind us, so naturally I run too. Then there was the time I was taking a shower and humming when he decides to “Boo!” me. I jumped and screamed from fright. The funniest one as of yet was when we went on a one night getaway and I was using the bathroom. The door didn’t lock and he opened the door on purpose while I was on the toilet. I screamed so hard. My scream scared him. He shut the door and we couldn’t stop laughing. So here is to loving someone so much.

Thanks babe for so many laughs. Who else thinks being married is fun?

The Huntington Library

The Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens is not what most of our family expected. We started with the botanical gardens which simply shocked us with plants from all around the world. The gardens span 120 acres and takes two full days to explore. The art galleries contain works from Europe and America. With plenty of works that are over a century old. Perhaps the most peculiar part of this place though is the library. The library is a collection that is full of important books. From the first book ever printed to drafts. This library is clearly there for the purpose of education.

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum is on a property that is important in Richard Nixon’s life. Richard Nixon was born in 1913 in a house that is still on the property. The house was built by his father using a home kit and is the place where Richard Nixon spent his entire childhood. It is also the place where Richard Nixon and his wife are buried. The same helicopter which Nixon used to leave the white house at the end of his presidency is also here to be seen. The employees here give extremely good tours. This is certainly a great place to go if you want to see a part of America’s history.

Fullerton Arboretum

The Fullerton Arbore is a very impressive botanical garden that happens to be the largest botanical garden in Orange County. There is a variety of 4,000 different plants from all around the world. There are even plants that are nearly extinct here. This botanical garden was created in 1976 but was not yet opened until 1979. This land originally was a orange grove until all the trees died due to a disease called quick decline. This is a great example of how important agriculture was and still is today in this county. It is true that now there are more people living here and a huge demand for tourist attractions which most certainly took away many farms but even now there is plenty of agriculture here.

Carlsbad State Beach

We can never pass up an opportunity to enjoy some time on the beach even if it is winter and we can’t quite put our feet into the water. Carlsbad State Beach was stunning. Here we had a chance to run up and down the beach. It is a great way to stretch out legs when we are on a road trip. Plus we get more hours and miles every time we spend our time out doors. It is a win win in the end.

Lakehouse Hotel and Resort

We have never stayed in a hotel or resort that was this kid friendly. Our two younger children slept in a bunkbed. Their side of the room had a table their size, toys, and a teepee. They had a pool right next to our room which Peter and Esther enjoyed. Their pools are heated. They also had firepits outside that turned on once it got dark.

The design is so clean, unique, and contemporary. They have different kinds of rooms. They also have dining options nearby.

It rained when we stayed here but you can enjoy a kayak ride down the lake.

Located at 1025 La Bonita Dr. San Marcos, CA 92078.

Thank you Lakehouse hotel and resort for hosting our stay.

Thank you for reading our blog post. We share a new blog post every Thursday at 8pm.
