I know I live in the city but my soul longs to be in the country. If your like us and you live in the city because of your job make sure you make time for the country.
Visit places that aren’t crowded with people. Find trails that you can walk alone on, lakes that you can kayak on while soaking in the vitamin D, and a place you can call home for a few nights that is covered with evergreen trees.
Do yourself a favor and do this often. You will be recharged for what is ahead. You’ll be more energized and happier.
We do this weekly and since we homeschool we tend to do this on Sunday until Monday.
Pinecrest Lake
While is Twain Harte we decided that it would be a good idea to go to a lake. Pinecrest Lake was the one we chose. Pinecrest Lake is a 300 acre lake which was created by a dam.
Peter and Dmitry went fishing on a canoe and had no luck but really enjoyed spending time on the the lake. Meanwhile my daughters and I sat on the shore getting plenty of relaxation.
Eve enjoyed climbing on rocks, Elizabeth drew, and Esther was busy reading. We all had a good time and left with smiles on our faces.
Redhills Recreational Area
Redhills Recreational Area is a place where you can get lost and we mean literally. There are no markers and plenty of places where the trail splits and becomes more convoluted.
Here you will find plenty of nature. This is a perfect place to simply explore with the purpose of discovering where you might arrive. A true maze of a trail.
Fun Cabin Rentals
If your like us and you would love to be able to make healthy meals while you travel then staying in a cabin with a kitchen is a must. Think of all of the money you’ll save by cooking and how your gut will thank you for it.
Now this cabin is spacious. It can fit a total of ten people. This is a four bedroom and two bath cabin. Why not have a family reunion here? This cabin is located in Twain Harte, CA.
After our meals we would take walks with my daughter Esther. It could not have been more peaceful. We met sweet neighbors along the way and saw mama deer and her fawns.
It surely felt like a home away from home. You can even do laundry while you stay here.

Taste of Tuolumne County
Indigency Reserve:
We have been here a few times. Here they have hand-crafted hard cider. You can go inside and taste the different varieties that they make. This is a great place if your passing by and you have lunch with you. They have picnic tables and an area for kids to play basketball and other activities to keep them entertained.
Located at 14679 Summer Ln, Sonora, 95370.
Cover’s Apple Ranch :
If your looking for a homemade bakery and deli then this is where you want to go. We had breakfast here. Service was amazing here. This is the place you want to get your fresh made cider. They have a drive through so you can choose to take your homemade pie to go.
Located at 19211 Cherokee Rd, Tuolumne, CA 95379.
The Rock of Twain Harte :
Now this place gets really busy especially on a Sunday. You want to try their trash can nachos. Now what we didn’t realize is that the nachos actually come in a small metal trash can. It looks really cool. The nachos are then dumped onto the plate. I wish I knew this because I wasn’t ready with my camera when they brought it out.
I got their Candied Salmon Salad. It was so good.
Located at 23068 Fuller Rd, Twain Harte, CA 95383.
Tuolumne City Memorial Museum
When your visiting a new place you might want to know its history. This museum is small but worth the stop. We enjoyed seeing the collection of family bibles. A bible was so precious for so many. I don’t really see bibles being passed down anymore which is such a shame.
As you enter you’ll find a wheel chair. This is no ordinary wheelchair. When you sit on it you have hand rails that help you move forward or backwards like a bike.
Logging was big here. Every year they have an lumber jubilee in Tuolumne where you can watch Hot Saw competition. You can join all sorts of games here. We plan to attend next year since we missed it this year.
