The Power of Prayer…

Prayer is so powerful. When we spend time with God in prayer something miraculous happens…our hearts become softer. We also feel that we are being understood and that what we have to say really does matter. We do not need to pay money to have someone listen to our problems or concerns. Instead, we have a free psychiatrist who knows what we need and what we are going through.

Here is a list of things children can be praying about…

   1. Jesus please give me wisdom so that I may choose to do and live my life in a way you would like me to live.

         2. Help me to have a heart after your heart so that my desires will line up with your desires.

  3. Keep me away from those who can cause me harm and wish me evil.

   4. Help me to love everyone, especially those who have done unkind things to me.

     5. Help me to think of others and to put the needs of others before myself.

   6. Help me to honor you by the way I live my life.

  7. Forgive and cleanse me from everything that is unclean and impure.

    8. Lord I want to live for you and I put my future in your hands.

  9. Give me friends that love you so that we can encourage each other to do the things that are right.

10. Help me to honor my father and mother by listening to them so that I can live long in the land that you have given me.

The paragraphs below were written by my son, a year ago at the age of 11: Why Prayer Should be kept in Schools……

“Prayer is losing power in America. If prayer in school would be banned it could be prohibited in work, church, and in weddings. If this keeps up America could be a prayer free zone, that’s  why we should stop it before there’s no turning back. Kids these days have nothing to say but, the world was made of dust. And without prayer the bible may disappear, and kids won’t know what a bible is the next generation. Prayer will just be a mystery in the mist if we don’t stop it. I believe students should be allowed to pray in school because it is our hope, kids need it, and it can make the world a better place.

Prayer in school is our only hope. Prayer is what keeps things together, it is what the pilgrims did. The less we prayer the worse it gets, and it keeps family together and it has for hundreds of years. Divorces happen because there is not a lot of prayer, because satin traps you when there’s not a lot of prayer. Prayer is disappearing more than ever, not only here but all around the world. Without prayer the world could end or happiness would be gone.

Kids need prayer because they are losing faith these days in their homes. Prayer is losing the war in schools in America. Which is sad because it is getting worse every day. So what is the problem? The problem is that kids will lose hope through the years. Why should we do something about it? Because kids need it.

With prayer, the world would be a better place. It would create friendships, relationships, and peace between countries. It could save lives, families, and creatures from extinction. The world would have less crime, hate, and divorce. It’s the secret to a sinless world, a world of peace. It would change the world forever. And bring God to the world.

Religion will fade, what our ancestors did will fade. The next generation will have nothing to believe in. Freedom will become slavery and homes would become prisons. Do you really want to forget what it is to believe in something? That’s why we should do something.”

I love my sons passion for God. It always amazes me how God can use anyone. You are never too young or too old to be used by God.

It is never too early to teach our children to pray. Never take prayer for granted because prayer is so powerful.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:6-7

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your request to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Colossians 4:2

“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

Matthew 21:22

“And Whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you are faithful.”

With prayer we will have strength to keep on fighting the good fight….
